THE PROJECT
Promoted by VSF and coordinated by the Veneto Region, this project aims to map current competencies across the hydrogen value chain in the Veneto region, segmented by upstream (producers), midstream (distribution and storage), and downstream (end-use) operators. This mapping exercise also explores potential demand for this energy carrier and the sector's development prospects in Veneto. The analysis of the collected data serves as a foundational tool to support the potential establishment of a Hydrogen and Alternative Energy Hub in Marghera, designed to drive positive impacts across the entire regional territory.
The mapping exercise aims to:
-
Identify technical and industrial competencies across the hydrogen value chain (production, storage, conversion, and transport) as well as potential gaps;
-
Survey organizations operating within the hydrogen supply chain or interested in exploring its strategic and operational impacts;
-
Quantify current and future hydrogen demand;
-
Gather insights into ongoing or planned projects and allocated financial resources.
THE CONFERENCE
Held on October 13, 2023, the conference presented the findings of the “Mapping of Hydrogen Skills and Demand in the Veneto Region,” conducted under the coordination of the Veneto Region and with the technical support of Boston Consulting Group. The event fostered dialogue between public and private stakeholders to launch initiatives for building a regional hydrogen supply chain, highlighting the strategic opportunities presented by adopting this energy carrier.

THE SURVEY
The survey is aimed at businesses in the Veneto region, inviting them to contribute to establishing Venice and Veneto as an attractive hub for the hydrogen supply chain by sharing their competencies, projects, and needs through an online questionnaire.
The questions are primarily technical in nature; responding requires knowledge of the company's energy resource consumption and/or its sustainability and innovation strategies.
Upon completion of the analysis, every participant in the mapping exercise will receive a copy of the final report.
