Organized by the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, partner of VSF, the event will run until March 4th. It serves as an essential platform for dialogue, cooperation, and exchange of best practices among local leaders, administrators, private sector representatives, and civil society members. This is the second consecutive year of VSF’s participation in the congress, contributing to the debate with innovative experiences and solutions in the fields of sustainability and innovation.

The 2025 edition of the Congress is themed “Global Challenges – Local Solutions,” highlighting the need to address global transformations with targeted local strategies. Over 2,500 participants, including representatives of local and central governments, NGOs, academics, entrepreneurs, and experts from across Europe, are expected in Mikołajki.

VSF is represented at the Congress by General Director Alessandro Costa and Luca Farina, Project Manager for Innovation and Hydrogen. Both will take part in discussion panels scheduled for March 4th.

Alessandro Costa will speak in the session “Future Proof City – Can Cities Stand Up to Climate Change and Disasters?”. The debate will tackle challenges arising from growing urbanization and climate change pressures on cities, focusing on the importance of designing sustainable and resilient cities. The critical role of collaboration between various sectors and local authorities in ensuring a livable future for urban communities worldwide will also be discussed.

Luca Farina will participate in the panel “Innovation as a Catalyst for Strengthening Local Communities”, exploring how innovation can enhance the economic and social potential of local communities by creating new job opportunities, improving business competitiveness, and strengthening social bonds.

With over 250 events across 15 themes, the Congress offers numerous opportunities to exchange strategies and innovative solutions for the future of local communities.
