News > BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA 2025: "INTELLIGENT VENICE" EXHIBITION INAUGURATED

Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) today inaugurated the exhibition project “Intelligent Venice – The Oldest City of the Future,” a tribute to the ingenuity and innovation that have defined Venice for sixteen centuries.

Featured as a Special Project by VSF for the Biennale Architettura 2025, the exhibition offers an immersive narrative of the Venetian community's history, its singular urban development, and the extraordinary collective intelligence that enabled the construction and stewardship of a city unique in the world.

The inauguration, held at the Tesa dell’Isolotto at the Arsenal, was attended by the exhibition curators – VSF President Renato Brunetta, Rector of Iuav University of Venice Benno Albrecht, Professor Paolo Costa, and CORILA Managing Director Pierpaolo Campostrini – alongside President of La Biennale di Venezia Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, Mayor of Venice Luigi Brugnaro, and Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli.

Spanning 500 square meters, the exhibition layout features a basilica-inspired architectural design with a series of apses and a central spine anchored by a long narrative table. The display includes over 5,000 archival images, more than 1,000 historical maps, 3 hours of video projections, 5 interactive multimedia panels, and five "Apses of Intelligences" that guide visitors on a journey through history, science, and a sustainable vision for the lagoon city's future.

“Intelligent Venice is the biography of a city in continuous regeneration, preserving the memory of its past while looking toward the future with awareness and innovation,” stated President Brunetta.
