News > Terna joins Fondazione Venezia Capitale Mondiale della Sostenibilità, contributing to the creation of a greener Venice
Innovation and clean energy are the two pillars upon which Terna’s work within Fondazione Venezia Capitale Mondiale della Sostenibilità/Venice Sustainability Foundation will be based, providing the Foundation with an important partner active in a key sector such as energy.
The Company aims to endow Venice with a new model of development that is modern and efficient, yet environmentally sustainable. Terna, which manages the national electricity grid, intends to contribute to two key areas through which the Foundation aims to support the Venetian territory: Energy and Environmental Transition, and Venice City Campus. Drawing on its multi-year expertise, Terna will provide key insights and support the Foundation through the various phases of developing and executing projects designed to make Venice a green city, focusing not only on preservation but also on enhancing the living environment.
In its updated 2021-2025 Industrial Plan ‘Driving Energy’, Terna planned total investments of €10 billion dedicated to the energy transition and territorial development. This strategy centers on integrating non-programmable renewable energy sources, accelerating consumption electrification, and boosting national security and resilience. Rooted in a deep culture of sustainability, these investments form an integral part of its value creation process, serving – alongside the Foundation – the sustainable development initiatives of Venice.
