Nautical tradition, maritime culture, and care for the lagoon came together during the 13th edition of the Principato di Monaco Trophy – Le Vele d’Epoca in Laguna, held in Venice from June 26 to 28.
Dedicated to classic sailing in the Adriatic and the promotion of historical “Ladies of the Sea,” the event maintained its focus on the regatta's sporting and cultural dimensions while also opening a preliminary dialogue on sustainability and the protection of the lagoon ecosystem.
Within this framework, the Venice Sustainability Foundation's patronage fits: it recognized the dialogue between nautical tradition and environmental responsibility as a valuable opportunity for shared development and offered to collaborate with the Trophy’s organizers in designing a protocol for a sustainable event.
On the evening of Saturday, June 27, the welcome dinner took place at Palazzina Canonica on Riva Sette Martiri – home to the Biodiversity Gateway and the CNR Institute of Marine Sciences (ISMAR). During the event, the Monaco entity highlighted its future goals and environmental conservation projects. Alessandro Costa, Director General of VSF, attended the evening.
The Principato di Monaco Trophy – Le Vele d’Epoca in Laguna is promoted by Anna Licia Balzan, Honorary Consul of the Principality of Monaco in Venice, and organized by the Yacht Club Venezia in collaboration with the Venice Boat Show (Salone Nautico di Venezia) and Vela Spa.
