The Activity Report for the first half of 2025 outlines an intense period marked by new challenges and major milestones.
In the first six months of the year, Venice Sustainability Foundation (VSF) launched two new thematic areas, Social Inclusion and Culture of Legality, which are now fully operational with targeted regional programs and initiatives.
VSF also inaugurated the second edition of the Sustainability Biennale – Urbs et Civitas. Within this context, the Foundation presented “Intelligent Venice: The Oldest City of the Future,” a special VSF project for the Biennale Architettura 2025, on view at the Arsenale through the end of November. Highlights of international dialogue included the conference “Research, Education, Innovation. Toward a Knowledge Cluster in Venice,” which kicked off the proceedings for the new edition of Sustainability Biennale 2025 (BS25).
Furthermore, the Foundation launched the Quaderni VSF publication series with its first volume, “From the Lagoon to the Moon,” dedicated to the development prospects of the space economy in the Veneto region, with two new volumes currently in publication. On-the-ground initiatives also got underway, including an emissions analysis of lagoon nautical mobility.
During the semester, the Foundation's partnership network expanded with the arrival of three new members – Metropolitan City of Venice, Mare Health, and Comin&Partners – further strengthening its international dimension to showcase Venice as a global laboratory for climate resilience and innovation.
