News > VSF in Lausanne for the 15th Edition of the Young Hospitality Summit

From March 17 to 19, VSF participated in the Young Hospitality Summit in Lausanne, a premier international event dedicated to the future of hospitality. Now in its fifteenth edition, the initiative was organized entirely by students at EHL Hospitality Business School, the world's oldest and most prestigious institution in hotel management.

Representing VSF was Project Manager Damiano De Marchi, who delivered a presentation titled "Tourism, Overtourism, E-tourism: Lessons from Venice". During his address, he outlined key facets of the overtourism phenomenon, presented strategic guidelines to address it, and shared solutions implemented in Venice in line with initiatives promoted by VSF.

The Young Hospitality Summit convened students from leading international academic institutions to address a dedicated core theme each year. For this edition, participants focused on overtourism – examining the issue under the guidance of industry experts and competing to develop innovative project proposals.

“It was a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the sector’s impact on both urban and non-urban destinations, as well as the need for a skilled, data-driven approach to managing its effects,” commented De Marchi. “Venice once again demonstrated its role as an ideal living laboratory for testing innovative and sustainable solutions”.
