Events > Sustainability, Green Transition, and the Territory
The economy and its deep ties to the social and urban fabric are at the center of the side event of the 2023 Sustainability Biennale - The MOSE Era, titled “Sustainability, Green Transition, and Regions”, taking place on November 9 at the Goldoni Theatre in Venice. The event, organized by the Bank of Italy, marks the Venetian stop of the “Traveling with the Bank of Italy” initiative – a nationwide tour designed to foster financial literacy and open a direct dialogue with citizens, businesses, and institutions.
The conference will address the green transition and real estate heritage. The discussion will focus on the structural characteristics of property assets to understand how transition policies can influence real estate prices, household wealth, and the overall stability of the banking system, which is exposed to these assets through mortgage lending.
Venice serves as an emblematic case study: energy-efficiency upgrades for residential buildings must be balanced with landscape preservation and the regulatory constraints imposed to protect these heritage structures. Furthermore, Venice's historic center reflects, to varying degrees, the broader challenges faced by historical downtowns across Italian cities.
